What we want out of Life, and how Aware are we as we create our world?

What Do We Want Out of Life? Are We Aware as We Create Our World?

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to lose sight of our deeper desires and aspirations. We often find ourselves caught up in the routine, moving from one task to the next without stopping to ask the fundamental question: What do we really want out of life? And perhaps even more crucially, are we aware of the world we are creating for ourselves and those around us?

What Do We Want Out of Life?

At the core, our wants and desires stem from a place of seeking fulfillment, happiness, and purpose. For some, this may mean achieving career success, for others, it might be cultivating meaningful relationships, or perhaps it’s about personal growth and self-discovery. Each of us has a unique vision of what a fulfilling life looks like.

Reflecting on my journey, I realized that my deepest desires have evolved over time. As a daughter of immigrant parents, I initially sought stability and security, yearning to honor my parents' sacrifices. Later, as a mother of four sons, my focus shifted to nurturing and supporting my family. Surviving breast cancer brought a profound shift in my perspective, prompting me to seek not just survival, but a life rich in purpose and meaning.

Creating Our World

We are constantly shaping our reality through our thoughts, actions, and choices. Yet, how often do we pause to consider the impact of these choices? Are we aware of the world we are creating for ourselves and others?

Awareness is the key to intentional living. It requires us to be present, to reflect on our actions, and to understand their consequences. During my cancer battle, I learned the power of visualization and positive thinking. By imagining a cancer-free future and turning my chemotherapy into a mental game where the chemo was Pac-Man, devouring the cancer cells, I created a narrative of hope and resilience. This mental shift not only helped me cope with the treatment but also played a significant role in my healing process.

Are We Aware?

Awareness involves a deep sense of mindfulness and reflection. It means taking the time to understand our motivations, to question whether our daily actions align with our core values and desires. It’s about being conscious of the world we are creating, not just for ourselves but for those around us.

Living with awareness has transformed my approach to life. It has made me more attuned to my needs and the needs of others. It has taught me to be deliberate in my actions, ensuring that they contribute positively to my vision of a fulfilling life.

As we journey through life, it is essential to continually ask ourselves: What do we want out of life? Are we aware of the world we are creating? By reflecting on these questions, we can live more intentionally, align our actions with our desires, and create a world that reflects our deepest values and aspirations.
